The first meeting
A working session, not a sales call. You describe the family, the assets, the business if there is one, and what concerns you. We ask the questions that determine which structures are in play, and we tell you what we think. Most first consultations run about an hour.
Consultations are chargeable, and the fee is confirmed when the meeting is arranged. We charge for advice for the same reason a lawyer or a physician does: the recommendation is the product, and it is yours whether or not you engage us further. Documents are not needed until there is something to draft.
A professional recommendation — whether anything needs doing, what it would involve, in what order, and who would need to be involved — set out in writing after the meeting, so you can consider it without pressure.
